Vocabulary Builder: Cambodian Workers Protest at a Nike Factory

The SHSAT doesn't have a vocabulary section.  Nevertheless, it is essential that you develop your vocabulary for this test.  It is also essential that you read a variety of articles and books - not just to prepare for the test but to develop a greater understanding of the world.

Many middle schools, and even high schools, do not cover current events.  This is a shame.  Here's a very topical and meaningful article.  Many Americans do not know that their designer clothes are made by extraordinarily poor people in developing Asian countries. These workers are paid very low wages while the companies make huge profits.

Cambodia is a very poor country in SE Asia.  Here is an article about how the Nike corporation treats its female workers there.
